The present invention relates to an equalizer for a broadband satellite communication system capable of equalizing the frequency slope properties of a broadband channel and an equalization method thereof. The present invention uses first to fourth broadband equalizers having four different types of frequency slope properties and digitally combines the broadband equalizers to adjust the frequency slope properties within the range of 0-15 dB/slope in 1 dB/slope units. The present invention can adjust the frequency slope properties remotely or locally to enable an operator to easily adjust and optimize the frequency response properties of the system.
