The present invention relates to a master gateway determining method used in a home network. The master gateway determining method includes the steps of: searching for one or more gateway devices in a home network; requesting a service list from the found gateway devices; receiving the service list and version information for respective services; and determining whether to change the master gateway device based on the version information for respective services received in the previous step.
