Disclosed are a toner and a method for producing the same. The disclosed toner comprises: a toner base particle including an anionic electrification controller moiety; and a surface hardening layer at least partially adhered onto the toner base particle to wrap the toner base particle, wherein the surface hardening layer includes a cationic polymer moiety connected to the anionic electrification controller moiety through an amide bond, and the amide bond exists in the surface hardening layer.
