<p>An embodiment of the present invention relates to an electronic device and method for controlling charging of an electronic device. An electronic device according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a charging current reception unit to receive a charging current; a voltage and current sensor to monitor a charging current; and a control unit to calculate the cumulative amount of electric energy charged based on the monitoring of a charging current and the capability to stop charging a battery when the cumulative amount of electric energy charged exceeds a predefined amount of electric energy. Also, other embodiments of the present invention may be provided.</p>
