A method for predicting the residual life of a rolling-element bearing comprising the step of: measuring the magnitude and/or the frequency of occurrence of high frequency stress wave events emitted by rolling contact of the rolling-element bearing, recording the measurement data as recorded data, and predicting the residual life of the rolling-element bearing using the recorded data and an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) rolling-element bearing life model. The accumulated fatigue damage is determined from the measurements of the magnitude and/or the number of high frequency stress wave events emitted by rolling contact of the bearing rather than using the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) rolling-element bearing life model's values for the accumulated fatigue damage. |

measuring at least one of a magnitude and a frequency of occurrence of high frequency stress wave events emitted by rolling contact of said rolling-element bearing, recording said measurement data as recorded data, and predicting the residual life of said rolling-element bearing using said recorded data and an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) rolling-element bearing life model, whereby accumulated fatigue damage is determined from said measurements of the magnitude and/or the number of frequency of high frequency stress wave events emitted by rolling contact of said bearing, rather than using said International Organization for Standardization (ISO) rolling-element bearing life model's values for the accumulated fatigue damage. |
