PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film deposition method for straight tube type lamp, the method being capable of preventing the metal oxide film formed on the outer face of the bulb from detaching even if a predetermined thickness of metal oxide film is formed on an outer face of a bulb in a long straight tube by adopting an immersion pull-up method. ! SOLUTION: A film deposition method for a straight tube type lamp includes immersing a straight tube type glass bulb 11 with electrodes 12, 22 at both ends therein in a metal compound solution 21 to apply the solution 21 to an outer face of the bulb 11, pulling up the bulb 11, and drying and burning to form a metal oxide film on the outer face of the bulb 11. The method also includes immersing and pulling up the bulb 11 inclined with respect to the vertical or horizontal plane from the solution 21, and then performing a liquid film uniformization step to uniform a thickness of the solution film attached to the bulb 11 before completion of drying.
