This gas sensor is provided with a solid electrolyte, a gas chamber, a standard gas chamber, a pump cell, a monitor cell, and a sensor cell. The space width (W0) of the gas chamber in the width direction (W) orthogonal to the direction of gas flow is constant at the positions at which a pump electrode, a monitor electrode, and a sensor electrode are placed on the solid electrolyte. The amount of deviation (ΔX1) of the center position (O2) in the width direction (W) of the gap (S) between the monitor electrode and the sensor electrode, with respect to the center position (O1) of the pump electrode in the width direction, has the relationship ΔX2 ≦ 1/4W1, where W1 is the width of the pump electrode. The position of the side surface of the monitor electrode and the position (ΔY1) of the side surface of the sensor electrode, from the center position (O1) of the pump electrode in the width direction (W), has the relationship ΔY1 ≦ 1/2W1. |
