Mixed gravel, coarse, medium and fine sand are inserted into the water artery flowing into the cavity of foundation pit, weir, barrage etc so these build up in the hollow space into a progressively increasing scaffolding and plugging structure in situ. The same effect can be obtained by wood shavings, slag, expanded clay, lead balls or chippings. This material can be placed in the flow by means of a carrier fluid or foam or by flotation agents, using biodegradable or naturally amphotric substances in this case.
