The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for searching for a cell of a terminal in a communication system supporting beamforming, and a method for searching for a cell of a terminal by a base station in a beamforming system may comprise the steps of: setting at least two transmission beam types indicative of different transmission beam orders; transmitting a synchronization signal and common control information in the transmission beam order corresponding to a first type by using the synchronization signal and a common control information slot period within a certain frame; and transmitting a synchronization signal and common control information in the transmission beam order corresponding to a second type by using the synchronization signal and a common control information slot period within another frame.
