The present invention relates to six-membered cyclic biscarbonates of formula (I), wherein: - A is selected from the group consisting of -CH=CH- and -CH2CHR'-S-R-S-CHR''CH2-, wherein R is a linear or branched alkylene radical in C2-C6, optionally interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, and wherein R' and R'', identical or different, are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen atom and linear alkyl radicals in C1-C10; and - A' and A'', identical or different, are linear or branched alkylene radicals in C1-C12, on the proviso that, when A is -CH2CH2-S-R-S-CH2CH2-, A' and A'' are in C2 -C12, and their use for the preparation of polymers, such as poly(hydroxyurethane)s.
