PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing nanoparticles having a relatively small particle size by a laser ablation method using an ionic liquid, and to provide a method for producing nanoparticles having a narrow particle size distribution. ! SOLUTION: A nanoparticle production method by a laser ablation method comprises the steps of: (a) irradiating a target 9 with a laser in gas; and (b) capturing fine particles, generated by the laser irradiation, in an ionic liquid 10 disposed at a position not in contact with plumes generated by the laser irradiation. !
