<p>A process for producing a liquid nitrogen product through the cryogenic separation of air in a nitrogen production plant is provided. The nitrogen production plant can include a main air compressor; a heat exchanger (10); an air separation unit (19) having a single column (20), a top condenser (23), and a bottom reboiler (21); a recycle compressor (40); at least one turbine-booster having a booster (50) and a turbine (70); a liquid/gas separator (60); and a subcooler (30). The reboiler can be driven by gaseous nitrogen (44) withdrawn from the recycle compressor, preferably at a first stage discharge of the recycle compressor. Additionally, the single column can be partly refluxed with liquid nitrogen (66) split-off from a Joule-Thompson stream.</p> |
