<p>A deactivating tappet for turning off a valve in a valve train inside a combustion engine, which allows for the deactivation of an engine cylinder depending on the power demand from the engine. The tappet 1comprising a housing with a blind bore and with a shelf groove 21 arranged on the inner wall of the bore, and a main body 5 slidably arranged in the bore of the housing. Wherein the main body 5 comprises a first shoulder 12 and a stem 7, a secondary body 15 telescopicly arranged to the main body and having a second shoulder 16, spring means 13 & 14 arranged between the first shoulder and the second shoulder, and locking means (such as pins 18 & 19) extendable from the main body for cooperation with the shelf groove. The invention allows the main body, the secondary body, and the spring means to be handled as a separate unit which allows for simplification of the calibration process.</p> |
