A charging circuit (10) for charging a portable electronic device (11) includes a port (13) configured to be coupled to the portable electronic device (11), a power switch (14) coupled to the port (13) and configured to be coupled to a power supply (12), and a control circuit (16) coupled to the power switch (14) and the port (13). The power switch (14) is switchable between an open state and a closed state.
