[Also in Group XL (b)] In order to ensure that the correct amount of ingredients A, B and C are mixed together at 60 to form a product 61, the latter is bombarded by X-rays from source 65 and the fluorescent radiation thus produced is detected by a proportional counter 66 (see Group XL (b)). The output from the counter is fed to a N-channel pulse amplitude analyser 67 which sorts the pulses according to their amplitude and feeds the respective pulses to a computer 68. This computer is adapted to supply information to a servo-mechanism 69 if there is any deviation from the correct amount in the number of pulses per second received from each channel of analyser 67, so that the servo-mechanism 69, which is coupled to the sources of supply 62, 63 and 64, alters the rate of feed accordingly. |
