<p>This invention is a method of improving the function of the pulmonary arm of the cardiac-pulmonary axis by the administration of a pharmaceutical or nutritional supplement to a patient in which the function of the pulmonary arm is suboptimal, but not as a sequella of dysfunction of the cardiac arm. The exemplar patient is one suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The preferred pentose is D-ribose, to be administered chronically.</p> |
