PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyethylene terephthalate resin pellets, a plasticization temperature of which can be lowered while maintaining heat resistance and transparency of a molded article obtained, and a method for producing the same. ! SOLUTION: Provided are polyethylene terephthalate resin pellets satisfying the following (i) to (iv) and a method for producing the same: the resin (i) contains ethylene terephthalate units as a main constituent, with a proportion of diethylene glycol units being 0.7 to 1.0 wt% based on all polymer units; (ii) has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.70 to 1.0 dl/g; (iii) has a fine crystal size of 54 to 64 Å as measured by and calculated from an X-ray diffraction method; (iv) has an acetaldehyde content of 2.0 ppm or less; (v) and has a haze of 14% or less of a square plate having a thickness of 5 mm, obtained by injection molding using the pellets. !
