The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for predicting popularity of social data by variously establishing the standards of popularity of the social data spread through a social network service (SNS). The apparatus for predicting popularity of social data according to the present invention comprises: a social data collecting unit collecting the past social data created during the predetermined period from the social network data storage and the social data created in real time; a social data popularity prediction resource constructing unit extracting user information and data information from the past social data created during the predetermined period to construct the resources for popularity prediction of the social data by using the extracted writer information and data information; and a popularity predicting unit predicting popularity of the social data created in real time by using data information and user information extracted form the social data created in real time and the constructed resources for popularity prediction, wherein the predicted popularity can include an estimated value for at least two items among a spread amount, popularity-maintaining time and a spread speed.
