The present invention relates to a system for detecting and preventing an illegal access point (AP). An AP detection and prevention system includes: an AP connection management apparatus which is incorporated in a wireless communication device and which acquires, from the wireless communication device, adjacent AP information that is information of adjacent APs that are present around the wireless communication device and which manages connection to an adjacent AP; and a server for storing a list of normal APs and a list of illegal APs and for managing as such wherein the server transmits a list of normal APs to the AP connection management device through the wireless communication device and wherein the AP connection management device determines whether an adjacent AP is an illegal AP based on the list of normal APs.
