PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and tool for transferring a filter membrane bearing a retentate to a reagent pad in a microbiological testing apparatus.SOLUTION: A filter membrane 130 is placed in a support frame 120 having a shoulder and a skirt 122 projecting from the shoulder. A pad 310 is mounted on a cassette 300 of a complementary form to the skirt 122. The skirt 122 is adapted to slide sealingly on the cassette 300 until it comes into abutment formed by the shoulder. A method comprises the steps of: sealingly engaging the skirt 122 of the membrane support frame 120 on the cassette 300; establishing a pressure difference between the cassette 300 and the membrane support frame 120; applying a force onto the frame to slide the skirt on the cassette until contact is established between the end of a dome and the pad while maintaining the pressure difference; and maintaining the force on the frame to move the force downward until it comes into abutment formed by the shoulder while maintaining the pressure difference. |
