This electronic control unit (50) is provided with: power modules (60A, 60B); an input/output substrate (70) having, mounted thereto, an input connector (71) and an output connector (72); and a control substrate (80). The input/output substrate (70) and the control substrate (80) are mounted so as to face each other in a vertical direction. Discrete components (73), which each have a height (H1, H2, H3) that is greater than half (D/2) the distance of a gap (D) between the input/output substrate (70) and the control substrate (80), are only mounted to a control-substrate (80) facing surface (70e) of the input/output substrate (70).
