PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide controlled release fertilizer composition which exhibit release characteristics such that nutrients release from the fertilizer compositions in accordance with a Gaussian release rate curve essentially matching the growth rate pattern of plants to which the fertilizer is applied, and include a single coating layer for releasing nutrients in accordance with an S-type or sigmoid curve so as to provide nutrients in accordance with the specific nutrient requirements of the plants to which the fertilizer is applied.SOLUTION: A controlled release fertilizer composition comprises a granular nutrient core material comprising at least one water soluble fertilizer compound, and a substantially water-insoluble coating applied on the core material. The fertilizer composition is structured from the coating consisting of a single layer of a uniform, substantially continuous polymer film, and furthermore, the coating without any additives incorporated therein. |
