This storage management system supports planning of volume transfer between storage devices. This storage management system determines a transfer source volume group to which a transfer source volume belongs, determines the allocation volume from each of the storage device groups allocated to transfer destination pools, and determines the transfer volume to be transferred from each of the transfer source volume groups to each of the transfer destination pools. This storage management system generates image data indicating information about the determined allocation volume and transfer volume and displays an image on a display device.
