An inspection probe comprising a vibration transmission unit which transmits an ultrasound vibration along the longitudinal axis, and a vibration attenuation unit which is continuous with the leading end side of the vibration transmission unit. When vibrating in accordance with the vibration transmission unit, the vibration attenuation unit causes a loss of vibration energy in the ultrasound vibration, and converts the lost vibration energy to thermal energy, thereby attenuating the ultrasound vibration. An indicator unit of the inspection probe is an indicator which serves as an indicator of the amount of energy converted to thermal energy by the vibration attenuation unit. |
