The method includes: the network device determines whether packet loss is required to be performed on the messages of the same data flow in current used storage space according to the size of current used storage space, wherein the number of the messages of the same data flow is N, and N≥2; in the circumstance that packet loss is required to be performed, the network device discards continuous M messages in the same data flow, wherein 1≤M≤N.
