Disclosed are a method and device for allocating a dynamic bandwidth in a PON. The method comprises: determining length information about at least one data packet in a caching queue of a transmission container (T-CONT); according to the length information about the at least one data packet, determining the total length of at least one gigabit passive optical network encapsulation method (GEM) frame corresponding to the at least one data packet when the at least one data packet is respectively encapsulated as a GEM frame; and according to the total length of the at least one GEM frame, sending a DBRu to an OLT, so that the OLT allocates a bandwidth to the T-CONT according to the DBRu. According to the method and device for allocating a dynamic bandwidth in the embodiments of the present invention, the bandwidth of a system can be saved, and the overall performance of the system can be improved. |
