The invention provides a process for producing a composition containing biologically active follistatin from fertilized avian eggs or from raw animal blood serum, the process comprising a step of preservation selected from high pressure treatment, pulsed electric field treatment or a combination of both, while maintaining a temperature below 38°C by non-thermal processing.
