A document delivery mechanism 1 comprises a base 10 upon which is a document stacking space 20; a sweeper plate 34 movable relative to the base 10 between a first position (Fig.4b) within the document stacking space 20 and a retracted position (Fig.1b); and a document output mechanism 42 for feeding documents into the document stacking space 20 over the sweeper plate 34 when the sweeper plate 34 is at the retracted position. The document output mechanism 42 may be a stacker wheel. The sweeper plate 34 may have a hole (36, 38, Fig.1A) and when the sweeper plate 34 is in the retracted position the stacker wheel 42 may extend through said hole (36, 38, Fig.1A).
