<p>A preceding vehicle detection device according to one embodiment of the invention includes a data obtaining member and a specifying member to specify a preceding vehicle among other vehicles. The data obtaining member obtains a driving status amount data, by using a detection device of the own vehicle, of other vehicle running right in front of the own vehicle (ps(n), pp(n)) and a driving status amount data, by using an inter-vehicle communication, of other vehicles k (ts k (n), tp k (n)) (see step 205). The specifying member obtains statistical amounts (A1 to A7) representing a data similarity (see steps 210, 220, 230) and preceding vehicle probabilities (±1 to ±7) based on each of the statistical amounts (A1 to A7) and a predetermined relationship. Then, the detection device calculates a final preceding vehicle probability ±k for each other vehicles k based on the preceding vehicle probabilities (±1 to ±7), and specifies the preceding vehicle based on the final preceding vehicle probability ±k.</p> |
