<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for using a biliary tract maker, such as a method for specifically detecting a biliary tract cancer. <P>SOLUTION: Protein is extracted from a biliary tract cancer tissue at stages I and IV, and a target non-cancerous part biliary tract tissue and solubilized, and an LC/MS/MS identifies protein expressed in each tissue. Next, a spectral counting analysis identifies 160 kinds of protein in which expression increases in the biliary tract tissue, and in addition, a gene ontology analysis selects 77 kinds of protein from among the 160 kinds of protein as biliary tract cancer maker candidates. An SRM method quantifies the 77 kinds of protein and 17 kinds of protein considered as biliary tract cancer candidates from the past reports, and finally identifies 35 kinds of biliary tract cancer maker protein.
