What is described is a system for the connection of two components, a mounting member for said system, as well as a mirror assembly for automotive vehicles equipped with said system. A first connecting member (6) has the form of a tubular flange member (8) which is open on at least one side, with a first contact surface (60) and a first groove (26) being provided inside the flange member (8). A second connecting member (4) has the form of a mounting member (12) adapted to be introduced with play into the tubular flange member (8), with the mounting member (12) comprising a base body (14). On the base body (14) a first retaining boss (36) for engagement in the first groove (26) and a guide surface (58) arranged behind the retaining boss (36) are provided, with the guide surface (58) being associated to the first contact surface (60) and inclined at an acute angle relative to the latter. A clamping means (44) passes through the flange member (8) on the side (22) facing the first contact surface (60) and, when actuated, presses against a first pressure surface (66) on the base body (14) so that the inclined guide surface (58) presses against the first contact surface (60), to thus jam the mounting member (12) inside the flange member (8).
