A method and a knitting machine (1) for producing a knitted fabric from fiber material supplied from a drawing system (9) are described. According to the invention, each continuous knitting process is terminated at selected interruptions of the fiber supply, and the termination of the knitting process is initiated with a knitting system (3) on a changing site (2) provided on the knitted product carrier (2).
