The present invention relates to a motor driving apparatus which has a protection function for protecting an inverter or a controller from a counter electromotive force voltage, and a motor driving method. Suggested are a motor driving apparatus and a motor driving method. The motor driving apparatus includes a driving part which has at least one invertor arm which switches driving power and drives a motor; a first switch part which has a transmission path of transmitting the counter electromotive force from the motor to a charge part; and a second switch part which has at least one switch located between the motor and the driving line of the driving part, turns on/off the at least one switch with a predetermined period, and reduces the voltage level of the counter electromotive force from the motor.
