PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus in which the occurrence of paper wrinkles of a recording medium is suppressed than before, in a belt nip system.SOLUTION: The fixing device includes a rotatable fixing roll 70, a pressure belt rotated in contact with the fixing roll 70, and a pressing pad arranged inside the pressure belt and pressing the pressure belt to the fixing roll 70 from the inner peripheral surface of the pressure belt, to form a nip part through which the recording medium passes between the fixing roll 70 and the pressure belt. The fixing roll 70 includes a metal support 71 and a surface layer 72 covered on the metal support 71. The outer diameters of both ends in the rotation axis direction of the fixing roll 70 are larger than the outer diameter of the central part in the rotation axis direction of the fixing roll 70. The elastic modulus of a surface layer 72a of the central part in the rotation axis direction is in the range of 1.0E+01 MPa or more and 1.0E+02 MPa or less and the elastic moduli of surface layers 72b of both ends in the rotation axis direction are larger than the elastic modulus of the surface layer 72a of the central part in the rotation axis direction. |
