PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of identifying candidate agents for treating excitotoxicity-related disorders, and to provide methods for treating excitotoxicity-related disorders.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a nucleic acid agent which contains at least one modification which specifically reduces the level of the tau gene product in cells, targets a nucleotide sequence encoding tau, and enhances stability and/or biological activity thereof, and methods for treating excitotoxicity-related disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, Huntington disease, stroke, and Parkinson's disease, using the nucleic acid agent. |
