PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardness variable actuator that realizes smooth operation for varying hardness without relying on physical strength.SOLUTION: A hardness variable actuator comprises: a flexible tube member 1; multiple magnetic powdery bodies 2 filled in the tube member 1; a coil 3 that is wound around an outer periphery of the tube member 1 so as to surround the magnetic powdery bodies 2; a drive unit 4 that supplies current to the coil 3; and an instruction unit 5 that instructs the drive unit 4 to supply the current. The coil 3 generates a magnetic field using the current supplied from the drive unit 4 in accordance with the instruction from the instruction unit 5, and then the multiple magnetic powdery bodies 2 generate spontaneous magnetization, are magnetically coupled with one another to be hardened. |
