1. A process for producing C2+ olefins, the process comprising:
(a) providing an alcohol-containing mixture, the alcohol-containing mixture comprising ≧2 wt. % of methanol and ≧1 wt. % of one or more C2+ alcohol, the weight percents being based on the weight of the alcohol-containing mixture; (b) separating first and second streams from the alcohol-containing mixture, wherein (i) the first stream comprises ≧50.0 wt. % of the alcohol-containing mixture's methanol based on the weight of the alcohol-containing mixture's methanol, and (ii) the second stream comprises ≧50.0 wt. % of the alcohol-containing mixture's C2+ alcohol, based on the weight of the alcohol-containing mixture's C2+ alcohol; (c) reacting at least part of the first stream's methanol to produce a first hydrocarbon and a first oxygenate, the first hydrocarbon comprising ≧25.0 wt. % of propylene and ≦10.0 wt. % of ethylene, the weight percents being based on the weight of the first hydrocarbon; and (d) reacting at least part of the second stream's C2+ alcohol to produce a second hydrocarbon and a second oxygenate, wherein (i) the second hydrocarbon comprises C2+ olefin and (ii) the second hydrocarbon comprises a total amount of (ethylene+propylene) that is ≧10.0 wt. %, based on the weight of the second hydrocarbon. |
