An LED illumination (1) comprises: an LED (10); two bases (21 and 22) respectively further comprising a first terminal and a second terminal; a power supply circuit (30) which supplies power to the LED (10); a switch (40) which switches whether to supply external power to the power supply circuit (30) via the bases (21 and 22); a control circuit (50) which controls the switch (40); and a current limiting circuit (60) which limits the current value which is supplied to the control circuit (50) via the bases (21 and 22) to be less than or equal to a reference current value. The control circuit (50) carries out: an adjudication process of adjudicating whether an open state or a short-circuit state exists between the first terminal and the second terminal of the bases (21 and 22) respectively; and a switching process of switching the switch (40) from the off state to the on state if it is adjudicated in the adjudication process that the short-circuit state exists between the first terminal and the second terminal of either base (21 or 22). |
