PURPOSE:To suppress the reflected component from phosphors by the outside light and improve the contrast ratio and color by providing color filters on the inner face of a front plate, and forming a transparent glass film, the second electrode and phosphors on it. CONSTITUTION:The first electrode 12 and a barrier 13 are provided on a back glass 11. Color filters 15 of red, green and blue are formed on a front glass 14, a transparent film 16 and the second transparent electrode 17 are formed on them, and phosphors 18 of red, green and blue are formed to cover the electrode 17. Peripheries of the glasses 11, 14 are sealed by glass, and discharge gas is filled inside. Discharges D are generated in discharge cells C, the phosphors 18 are excited by the discharge light L1, and the light L2 of red, green and blue is sent to the outside through the glass 14. The reflected component from the phosphors 18 by the outside light is suppressed low, and the contrast ratio and color are improved. |
