The invention provides a furnace material and s producing method thereof. The furnace material is excellent in anti-lithium reaction and is light in weight. The furnace material is used for the heat treatment of lithium composite oxide. The content of MgO is 33-99.5 mass%. The total content of MgO and A12O3 is 95-99.9 mass%. The content ratio of MgO and A12O3 is 0.003-2.1 in mass% and is 1.0-2.5 in volume density. |
