<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head cleaning device of an inkjet printer capable of preventing creeping of ink to a head lower face part even after wiping a nozzle face and preventing scattering of ink. <P>SOLUTION: The cleaning device includes a wiper 101 capable of coming in contact with the nozzle face 7a of a head 7 disposed substantially vertically and discharging ink drops in a substantially horizontal direction, and cleans the nozzle face 7a by performing wiping operation. The cleaning device further includes a contamination preventing member 8 disposed movably on the downstream side of the head 7 in the wiper moving direction, and a moving means 108 for selectively moving the contamination preventing member 8 to a first position coming in contact with an end face of the wiper of the head 7 in the downstream side in the wiper moving direction, and a second position separating from the end face. During wiping operation of the nozzle face 7a by the wiper 101, the moving means 108 moves the contamination preventing member 8 to the first position, and one face of the contamination preventing member 8 is substantially flush with the nozzle face 7a when the first position is occupied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
