1. A data processing circuit comprising:
a pattern match calculation circuit operable to calculate a plurality of metrics representing a difference between a data sequence and each of a plurality of possible data patterns, wherein one of the plurality of possible data patterns comprises a target data pattern and a remainder of the plurality of possible data patterns each comprise a subset of the target data pattern, and wherein a primary metric from the plurality of metrics corresponds to the difference between the data sequence and the target data pattern; and an indication circuit operable to compare the primary metric with each of the plurality of metrics other than the primary metric, wherein at least one of the plurality of metrics is scaled, and wherein the indication circuit is operable to assert a target data pattern found signal based at least in part on the comparisons.
