PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge an exit pupil of an observation system in a simple configuration without generating unnecessary stripes.SOLUTION: A partially transmissive reflection film 11 is disposed on a second transparent substrate 10, and a high reflectance reflection mirror 21 is disposed on a first transparent substrate 20. While the partially transmissive reflection film 11 and the high reflectance reflection mirror 21 are held parallel to each other at a predetermined interval, light is made to enter a protrusion 22 of the first transparent substrate 20 where the high reflectance reflection mirror 21 is formed; and the light is guided in an air layer between the partially transmissive reflection film 11 and the high reflectance reflection mirror 21 while being reflected by the partially transmissive reflection film 11 and the high reflectance reflection mirror 21, where the air layer has a refractive index lower than that of the second transparent substrate 10. Part of the guided light is extracted from the partially transmissive reflection film 11 to exit from the second transparent substrate 10 on an opposite side to the surface where the partially transmissive reflection film 11 is disposed. |
