PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress, when an image has the difference in color that can be visually recognized in a color image, and the difference is highly necessary to be visually recognized also in a monochrome image, the situation where the difference in color becomes difficult to be recognized in converting the image from the color image into the monochrome image. ! SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 11 includes a monochrome image output unit 24 that performs conversion processing of converting color image data in an LCH color space into monochrome image data consisting of gray gradation values. The monochrome image output unit 24 switches, in the conversion processing, between a light/dark emphasis mode of outputting a gray gradation value correlating to an L value and a color difference emphasis mode of outputting a gray gradation value having high correlation with an H value compared to the light/dark emphasis mode. !
