PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical contact material that has excellent electrical/mechanical characteristics while reducing the content of expensive silver (Ag) and to provide a method for producing the electrical contact material.SOLUTION: The electrical contact material in accordance with one aspect of the invention includes: (i) an alloy of one or more kinds of metals selected from the group consisting of silver (Ag), copper (Cu) and gold (Au) and nickel (Ni); and (ii) a carbon nanotube coated with a silver nanoparticle, a carbon nanotube plated with silver or a silver nanowire. The electrical contact material in accordance with another aspect of the invention includes: (i) one or more kinds of metals selected from the group consisting of silver (Ag), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni) and gold (Au); (ii) a metal oxide being a cadmium oxide, an indium oxide, a tin oxide, a zinc oxide or a mixture thereof; and (iii) a carbon nanotube coated with a silver nanoparticle, a carbon nanotube plated with sliver or a silver nanowire. |
