SOLUTION: A superconducting coil apparatus 100 includes a superconducting coil 91 including a coil part 10 and a quench detection device 110 for detecting quench of the superconducting coil 91. The quench detection device 110 includes: a voltage difference detection unit DU for detecting a voltage difference between a voltage applied to a section from a midpoint of the coil part 10 up to one end and a voltage applied to a section from the midpoint of the coil part 10 up to the other end; a current detection part 14 for detecting flowing current of the coil part 10; and an abnormality determination part 114 for executing determination operation for determining existence of abnormality in the superconducting coil 91 based on a detection value of the voltage difference detection unit DU.
