An image segmentation method and a device thereof are disclosed. The image segmentation method comprises steps of: randomly deciding N (N is a natural number) numbers of areas from an image; calculating an image characteristic function (fi) value in the area; determining an image characteristic value which minimizes a purpose function (F) for the area by using the calculated image characteristic function (fi) value; and updating the area by using the determined image characteristic value. |
