PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of improving operating performance of a pole in a door latch device for a vehicle including: a latch that engages with a striker to rotate in a door closing direction; the pole that can engage with the latch; and a pole return spring for engaging the pole toward an engagement position with the latch.SOLUTION: A door latch device 100 for a vehicle includes a pole return spring 130 for elastically energizing a pole 120 toward an engagement position with a latch 110. The pole return spring 130 includes: a coil spring portion 131 that is formed to have a coil shape and that has a coil center at a position separate from a rotation center of the pole 120; and an extension arm 132 extending from one end 131a of the coil spring portion 131 along an abutted surface of the pole 120. The extension arm 132 is configured to abut on a shear plane deviated from a shear plane with relatively high surface roughness of the abutted surface of the pole 120. |
