Former flame retardants obtained from plants have not been able to develop flame retardancy satisfying the UL94 standard even when the former flame retardants are added to resin containing a polymer containing styrene or aromatic polyester. Provided is a flame retardant composition containing a flame retardant compound and a polymer containing styrene or aromatic polyester described in Claim 1. R1 to R3 in General Formula in Claim 1 represent substituents.
