PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer which can be used by changing a thickness thereof correspondingly to the size of a gap generated between loads loaded into a container and the like. ! SOLUTION: A spacer 1 for shipping and packing is formed of a foamable material having a self-standing property and elasticity capable of buffering impact and comprises: a spacer body 2 formed in a square plate-like shape; and a plurality of adjustment pieces 3, which are extended from both facing sides 4 of the spacer body 2, for adjusting a thickness of the spacer. A width 8 of the adjustment piece 3 is equal to both sides 4 of the spacer body, and a thickness 9 and a length 10 of the adjustment piece 3 are same as a thickness 6 of the spacer body. The plurality of adjustment pieces 3 are connected 12 on the extension of one surface side of the spacer body 2.
